There are many thoughts in my mind why Media and Information Literacy is important. We learn things in some information that we already heard or read. As a future social media influencer, I might be able to influence others with my own knowledge about Media and Information Literacy. Why is Media and Information Literacy important? Media and Information Literacy inform and entertain us through online, television, radio, magazines, movies and music. It helps our mind to produce new ideas and enhance our critical thinking skill. We can also identify data and information whether it is factual or not, and that includes evaluation. Then, we will be able to understand the workings of media and information systems, their organizations, and how information produced. Good thing for Media and Information Literacy is that it lies at the core of freedom of expressions and information that empowers citizens to understand the functions and other information provider.
We, people can help promote literacy among others. But there are several steps or things that needs to achieve. First is, BE RESPONSIBLE ON WHAT YOU POSTED OR PUBLISHED. How it would help? It helps people to know their own responsibility and how can they handle such situation. Secondly, USE IT RIGHTLY AND PROPERLY. Doing right will satisfied your feeling and knowing what is right is a good thing. Third, BE SENSITIVE TO PEOPLE'S FEELING. "Think before you click". I know that you are familiar on this phrase. It is important to know the feelings of people first. We will be able to have a good communication and feedback to those people who read your post because they know that you are well-guided and sensitive enough to their feelings. Fourth, STOP COMMENTING TO THOSE POSTS THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW THE WHOLE STORY. Research or observe some information that is related in the post before giving your own thought, in that we will not be able to get negative feedback or comment to other people. The last but not the least is that, APPLY THE PROPER CITATION. In that we will be able to avoid plagiarism and to practice the act of acknowledgement.
